Job Description

Essential Functions

• Inspect applications to determine acceptability of new risks
• Gather all relevant information needed to secure the decision on the applicant
• Calculate cost for insured depending on each specific situation
• Assist agents via email and telephone
• Answer specific policy coverage questions for agents and insureds
• Facilitate an understanding of the Company underwriting guidelines for agents
• Develop relationships with agents to promote the writing of acceptable risks
• Evaluate risks that fall outside of the Company guidelines
• Terminate risks that do not fit within the Company guidelines
• Run loss reports on property risks
• Review claims referrals and work with claim adjusters

Specifications / Requirements

• Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable
• Ability to use logic and to think analytically
• Sharp organizational skills are necessary
• Maintain strong knowledge of basic computer functions including Microsoft products
• Capable of fostering partnership in a fast paced environment
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Education / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 2-5 years’ experience in personal or commercial lines

Working Conditions

The physical work environment for this position involves sitting in an office setting communicating with others face-to-face, electronically and by telephone. Overtime may be required for this position if requested by a supervisor in order to complete a certain given task in a timely manner.
